Clothes
- Light cotton or linen clothes: it's hot and humid all year.
- Clothes that cover shoulders and knees for temples and the Grand Palace.
- A light jacket for the plane, malls and buses, where the air-conditioning is strong.
- Comfortable sandals for walking, and shoes you can slip off at temple entrances.
- In the rainy season (May to October): a light rain jacket or a small umbrella.
For the beach and boat trips
- Swimwear, including modest options if you prefer, which are common at many beaches and hotels.
- Water shoes for rocky and coral beaches.
- A small waterproof bag and a phone pouch.
- A hat and sunglasses.

Health and medicines
- High-factor sunscreen and insect repellent.
- Your personal medicines for the whole trip, with the prescription.
- Seasickness tablets if you're doing boat trips.
- A small first-aid kit: plasters, painkillers and something for the stomach.
Electronics
- A plug adapter: Thailand runs on 220V, and most sockets take plugs with two flat or two round pins.
- A power bank in your carry-on only: they're banned from checked bags, and some airlines ban using or charging them during the flight.
- Your phone charger and headphones for long journeys.
Documents and money
- A passport valid for at least six months after your arrival date.
- Copies of your passport and insurance, on your phone and on paper.
- A bank card, plus a little cash in baht for markets and national park fees.
What not to bring
- E-cigarettes and their liquids: banned in Thailand, with penalties that can include large fines.
- Too many clothes: hotel laundry is cheap, and you'll probably buy clothes there.
- Valuable jewellery you don't need on the beach.
The SIM is on us: our Thailand packages include a Thai SIM card, so you're online from the moment you land.
