Where to go with children
- Phuket: the first choice for families. Kata and Karon beaches are wider and calmer, and nearby islands like the Khai Islands make short trips for little ones.
- Krabi: calm water and short island hops, ideal for a family that loves nature.
- Bangkok: two or three nights are enough with children, and most activities are in air-conditioned malls.
- Pattaya: close to Bangkok, with water parks and calm beaches in Jomtien.
Places kids love
- Aquaria Phuket: a large aquarium inside Central Phuket Floresta mall, and a great escape on a rainy day.
- Andamanda water park, Phuket: slides and pools for every age.
- SEA LIFE Bangkok: an ocean world under Siam Paragon mall.
- Safari World and Dream World, Bangkok: an open zoo and a theme park, each a full day out.
- Aquaverse water park, Pattaya: water rides themed on films children know.

Heat and sun
- Plan outdoor activities for the morning and late afternoon, and keep midday for the pool or a rest.
- High-factor sunscreen, a hat and a long-sleeved swim shirt for children.
- Plenty of water all day, bottled only.
Food
Thai food can be spicy, but you can always ask for a non-spicy dish: fried rice, grilled chicken and noodles are children's favourites, and every hotel serves an international breakfast. For halal food, see our dedicated guide.
Getting around
- Pavements are uneven in many places, so a baby carrier is easier than a stroller in cities; a light stroller helps in malls and hotels.
- Ask for a child car seat in advance for transfers.
- Choose a plan with few moves; a short domestic flight beats a long drive.
Safety at sea
From November to April the sea is calmer at Phuket and Krabi's beaches. In the rainy season, watch for red warning flags, and on boat trips check there are life jackets in your children's size.
Our family trips: family rooms, door-to-door transfers, an Arabic-speaking rep who meets you at the airport, and a Phuket team available 24/7.
